Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then located numerous other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report preliminary tests suggest the fluid was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; authorities are presently not cognizant of any harm in association with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have requested to the public for tips.
A senior official stated the incident rendered him without words and required to be addressed promptly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, referring to the killing of nine people by a shooter targeting individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
